NEWSGhanaian Princesses too much for Namibian Gladiators 02-20-2012
Ghana’s U-20 women’s team, Black Princesses took giant step towards qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Japan 2012, after a convincing 7-0 win over Namibia in a qualifier on Sunday in Accra. Leading forward Florence Dadson, who plays for the Robert Morris University in the United States netted a hat-trick before a goal each from Priscilla Saahene, Elizabeth Addo, Faustina Ansah and Deborah Afriyie ensured victory for the Ghanaian Ladies. The Namibians fought on but their thirst for a consolation failed to materialize leaving them with a tall mountain to climb for the second leg at their backyard in a fortnight. Elsewhere in Gaborone, hosts Botswana were humbled 4-1 by visiting South Africa in their encounter. Striker Jermaine Seoposenwe scored twice and Tshegofatso Makinta and Caitlin Fryer added one each later in the game to wrap up the first leg victory. Two teams will represent Africa at the global championship fixed for 18 August to 9 September, 2012 in Japan. |
