Egyptian Cup is cancelled
Egyptian Cup will not take place this season after the competition was cancelled due to security concerns.  The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has previously asked Ministry of Interior to organise Egypt Cup matches from April 20th to May 30th 2012 but there were no positive response. EFA published on its official website the Ministry of Interior rejected the EFA proposal and said  that the current situation is not appropriate for organising any football activities in Egypt, as everyone is getting ready for the presidential elections next month.
The Egyptian Premier League was abandoned earlier after the Port Said tragedy that left 74 people dead and hundreds injured last February after fans rioted at the end of a league game between Port Said’s Al Masry and Cairo side Al Ahly. The decision means there will be no more football in Egypt this season with the only action left to Egyptian clubs in continental club competitions.  Al Ahly, Zamalek and ENPPI are  represent Egypt in CAF interclub competitions. Ahly and Zamalek are taking part in the Orange CAF Champions League while ENPPI is currently playing in the Orange CAF Confederation Cup.
