Stuart Baxter to coach Kaizer Chiefs

Former Finland manager Stuart Baxter was on Tuesday named coach of leading South African club Kaizer Chiefs in succession to sacked Serb Vladimir Vermezovic.
A club spokesman said that 58-year-old England-born Baxter will begin a two-year contract in June and faces the daunting challenge of lifting the most successful and popular South African football club out of the doldrums.

Chiefs failed to win any of the four league and cup trophies this season and recently suffered four consecutive losses in all competitions for the first time since the club was founded 42 years ago.  Baxter coached South Africa in the middle of the previous decade with little success, winning only five of 10 qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup and failing to reach the finals in Germany.
