Cape Town U-20 International friendly tournament beckons

The Cape Town International invitation friendly tournament kicks off from 24th of May to 3rd of June in South Africa with an array of future stars from South America and Africa on show. The draw has put hosts South Africa in group A with Argentina, Nigeria and Ghana and group B features South American giants Brazil alongside Cameroon, Kenya and Japan. The tournament will be played at the Athlone and Cape Town stadiums and according to South African Football Association (Safa) Cape Town chairman Norman Arendse, the tournament will focus on solidifying the legacy from 2010 World Cup and to contribute to the development of the game in the country
 
 
South Africa will play Argentina in the tournament’s opening match while the Black Satellites engage arch rivals Nigeria at the Athlone Stadium on 25th of May.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi finals. The tournament started in 2010 as a four team tournament used as a test for the World Cup that was stage in South Africa in the same year. Last year Nigeria (the current U-20 African champions) won the tournament. The competition will end on 3 June.
