Pharaohs and Desert Hawks in Arab Cup draw

Egypt U-23 team played a 1-1 draw with Sudan as both teams kicked off their Group C matches in the  Arab Cup in Saudi Arabia. Ahmed Magdy gave Egypt the lead after 38 minutes but the Desert Hawks equalized  nine  minutes from full time through Moawia Bashir.
 
Sudan were the better side in the second half searching for the equalizer, and Egyptian goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam was rescued by the post on at least one occasion. Egypt midfielder Hisham Mohamed picked up an injury that saw him  taken to hospital  and it was his  replacement  Mohamed Ibrahim who provided the assist for the Pharaoh’s goal.
 
Egypt manager Hany Ramzy fielded experienced over age players,  Amr Zaki and Ahmed Eid Abdel Malek who he intends to include  in  the Olympic team in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
 
The teams in Group C of the Arab Cup are  Egypt, Sudan, Iraq and Lebanon. Meanwhile Iraq currently top the group with 3 points after beating Lebanon 1-0 on Sunday. Egypt and Sudan are in second and third places respectively on a point each while Lebanon prop up the group and are yet to register any  points. Egypt is fielding their Olympic Team as a part of their preparations for the next month's London Olympic Games.
