Legend Award Rigobert Song (Cameroon)
Song is a household name in African football and widely regarded as one of the finest defenders of his generation. Bon on July 1, 1976; Song featured at a record successive eight Africa Cup of Nations (from 1996 to 2010). Aside making a record 35 starts in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations; Song was also on the winning side in 2000 and 2002.
At club level, he had stints with Metz (France), Salernitana (Italy), Liverpool, West Ham United (both in England), FC Cologne (Germany) and Turkish sides, Galatasaray and Tranbzonspor before hanging his boots in 2010. He also appeared in three FIFA World Cups; 1998, 2002 and 2010. Also, he made a record 137 appearances for Cameroon.
