Scottish coach celebrates as Uganda lift Cup

Scottish coach Bobby Williamson secured his first African silverware when hosts Uganda edged Kenya 1-0 on Tuesday in a thrilling East and Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup final.
The climax of the 10-nation tournament was won by a 17th-minute goal from striker Bryan Omony, which made him the leading scorer in the annual competition with five.
Former Kilmarnock, Hiberian and Plymouth manager Williamson pleaded before the clash of the arch rivals for support and got it with a huge crowd turning up at Nelson Mandela Stadium on the outskirts of the Ugandan capital.
Success will ease the pressure on the 47-year-old Scot, whose failure to lead Uganda into the final phase of the 2010 World Cup-African Nations Cup qualifiers triggered severe criticism.
The competitive debut of Williamson last September was a disaster with the 'Cranes' surrendering the lead at lowly Niger to lose 3-1 and destroy dreams of a first World Cup appearance.
There were plenty of goals and excitement in the third place play-off curtainraiser with Tanzania winning 3-2 against Burundi, whose qualification for the semi-finals at the expense of holders Sudan and Zambia was a shock.
