CAF signs Memorandum Of Co-Operation with English FA

The English Football Association is sending a high-powered delegation to Lagos Nigeria to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with CAF, on co-operation between the two parties on training and development of football in Africa.

The English FA has been involved in development projects in Africa for many years and this signing is a renewal of their commitment to assist African football. The co-operation agreement is to run for a further five years.

Alhaji Issa Hayatou, President of CAF will be welcoming the English delegation himself, and signing the Memorandum on behalf of CAF.

Meanwhile, Lord Triesman, the Chairman of the English Football Association is being expected in Lagos Nigeria later today, and he will be signing the document with CAF at 9.00 am on Wednesday 11 February at the Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos. He will also attend the CAF Awards and be a guest at the CAF General Assembly, which will take place shortly after the signing.

Speaking recently, Lord Triesman said ‘we have a long-standing relationship with Africa not least through our involvement in the decade long commitment to the UEFA-CAF Meridian Project. We welcome this renewal of our formal co-operation with CAF, and I have no doubt that it would be a mutually rewarding partnership’.

Also in the FA team is Jane Bateman, who has led the FA’s International Relations Division, and Andy Anson, the Chief Executive of the England 2018 World Cup Bid.
