Tunisian champions, Esperance Sportive de Tunis claimed their second Arab Champions League title after a one all draw with Moroccan side, Wydad Casablanca on Thursday.

The one all draw at the November 7 Stadium in Rades powered Esperance to a 2-1 win on aggregate after managing a lone goal victory in the first leg a fortnight earlier in Casablanca.

The Arab Champions League title completes Esperance’s impressive term this season, which saw them claim a record 20th Tunisian League title earlier after piping city rivals Club Africain on the final day.

Wydad were also close to emulating Esperance’s feat in Casablanca during the first leg after Abdessamad Rafik had put them in the lead on 66 minutes from the spot before midfielder Oussama Daragi snatched the much needed equalizer a minute from time also from the spot.

The Tunis-based club’s feat ensures that African clubs have won the last four editions of the annual championship.

The 1958 African champions first won the competition in 1993 after beating Al-Muharraq of Bahrain in the final.

The Arab Champions League (Arab version of CAF Champions League) is a tournament for clubs in the Arab World, with Africa’s representation consisted by Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Somalia, Sudan and Tunisia.
