Ethiopian suspension lifted temporarily by FIFA
06-01-2009

The suspension of Ethiopia from all football activities has been lifted following the scheduling of elections in July, FIFA said on Sunday.

The 208 federations shall be presented to the Executive Committee of the World body (Wednesday and Thursday) and the executive Committee will during the period lift the suspension of Ethiopia, added Jerome Valcke FIFA Secretary General.

Ethiopia was suspended from international competitions in September 2008 following the sacking of the country's football federation president Ashebir Woldegiorgis by the countries authorities.

The decision was deemed irregular by FIFA which decided to sanction the East African Nation.
