Egypt defeated (1-0) because they were the better side, according to the assistant Coach of the pharoahs, Chawki Gharib who was speaking at the end of Thursday’s game in Johannesburg.

“It was a very tactical game and we forced Italy to play differently. By making use of long balls we played better than Italy for the 90 minutes of the match continued Hassan Shehata’s assistant.

“We have written a page in Egyptian football history and we are proud and confident that we would play better in the next game against the United States on Sunday.

“We have three points just like Italy and we have our chances intact. We won against the World Champions and we should eb proud as it helped us wipe the problems of the match against Brazil which we (3-4).” the assistant trainer added.

Egypt beat Italy 1-0 thanks to a 40th minute header by Mohamed Homos and Gharib believes they can build on that for the future.
