Yaya Toure voted Ivorian player of the year

Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has taken the lead in a poll organised by Ivorian Sports newspaper www.sport-ivoire.ci in running for the country’s player of the year.
The holding versatile midfielder grabbed 39.58% of the votes to win the fourth Ivorian Footballer of the year gong.
Just like in 2008 when he was first voted player of the year Yaya Touré seduced the jury comprising journalists and the public with his inspirational displays both for his club and country.
This year he helped Barcelona win a historic treble The Spanish Kings cup, the League title and the European Champions League.
He was followed in the poll by Ivorian goalkeeper Boubacar Copa Barry who grabbed 23.44% of the votes. The Lokeren F C shot stopper ended the season on a high and was voted the goalkeeper of the year in Belgium.

Chelsea star Didier Drogba followed in third position with 16.47%. Drogba came ahead of Marseille’s Bakary Kone (14.07%) and Salomon Kalou (6.45%) who completed the top five.
Twenty-three players were initially listed to take part in the poll during which only five made the final round.
