Djoliba Athletic Club were crowned Malian champions for the 12th time in their history after a 3-2 win over Club Olympique Bamako in the season’s final match last Thursday.

The win ensured Djoliba finished on 55 points, six more than Club Olympique Bamako, who needed to beat the former by five goal margin to be certain of the league title.

The Olympians opened the scores after five minutes before Djoliba leveled seven minutes later.

Djoliba scored twice to end the first half with 3-1 before Club Olympique managed to reduce the deficit in the second half.

Stade Malien finished on third place on 48 points.

Meanwhile, AS Bamako and Al Farouk, who placed 13th and 14th respectively on the 14-club standings, have been relegated from the top flight.

Djoliba remain on course for the double as they have reached the quarter-final stage of the National Cup Championship.
