 NEWSCAF, Orange outdoor sponsorship partnership 11-24-2009
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and telecommunications giants, Orange on Friday outdoored the sponsorship partnership between the two bodies at a press conference in Luanda, Angola. It was the first official announcement by the continent’s soccer governing body on the sponsorship partnership on the deal sealed in August, 2009. By the agreement which last till 2016, Orange becomes the official sponsor of the flagship event of CAF, which is henceforth known as Orange Africa Cup of Nations and competitions organized by CAF. Orange will also associate its name to the main competitions of the CAF namely African Nations Championship (CHAN), Africa Youth Championship, CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup and CAF Super Cup. CAF Executive Committee member, Suketu Patel expressed the Confederation’s delight in securing the long term agreement for the flagship event and other competitions. “This agreement shows the value of CAF in less than 10 years. CAF is working continuously to reach the highest standards regarding its various competitions. “This agreement will play crucial role in realizing our primary objective; developing the game on the continent. We assure you (Orange) of a fruitful partnership with CAF). Leon Charles Ciss, Orange Marketing Director said his outfit’s association with CAF will play a major role in the development of the African game. He said Orange will soon launch a huge pan- African campaign to coincide the Angola 2010 Orange Africa Cup of Nations highlighting new exclusive offers and a development programme in education and football participation. |
