The 3rd CAF Medical Congress which took place from December 07 to 10, 2009 in Kigali, Rwanda, closed its sessions during a ceremony highlighted by the presence of M. Adoum Djibrine, Chairman of CAF Sports Medical Committee and General Kazura, President of the Football Federation of Rwanda (FERWAFA).

The Congress sessions lasted 4 days and reviewed all matters linked mostly to the medical preparation of African teams at major football events.

Thanks to the unconditional support of President Issa Hayatou and CAF Executive Committee members who give a great importance to the health of the African player, this Congress became a key event in the African sports medicine calendar, gathering doctors of the national teams as well as chairmen of medical committees of the member associations of CAF.

CAF would like to thank as well for their valuable participation the World Health Organisation, the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), the English Football Association as well as the Local Organising Committee of the upcoming Orange Africa Cup of Nations in Angola (COCAN 2010).

The CAF Sports Medical Committee also held an important meeting during which numerous subjects linked to the development of football medicine on our continent were treated.
