Central African Republic Wins UNIFFAC Cup
12-24-2009

The final of the second edition of the Cup of the Union of Central African Football Federations (UNIFFAC), played Sunday, December 20, 2009, in Limbe, Cameroon, between Central African Republic (CAR) and Gabon, was won by the little “Leopards of Lower Oubangui”, on the final score of 2-1.
It was the highest goal score of the competition (5 goals), Boris Tongolo, who opened score on penalty during the first period. After recession, Manie Bendoloun increase scores before the young Gabonais could succeed to reduce the score line through Kenie Tockecha.
It is worthy to not that Chad was categorised 3rd distancing a modified Cameroonian team during the classification match. The top country conceded three defeats in all the matches of the first phase (0-1 against CAR, 1-2 against Chad and 0-4 against Gabon). The Junior Lions were, however, consoled with the fair-play trophy which was awarded them.
The UNIFFAC Cup is played only by under-17 national teams. The first edition in 2008, played in Limbe, was won by Cameroon.
For CAR, which just won the UDEAC Cup (reserved for the seniors) last week in Bangui, 2009 is a very favourable football year just ending.
