After joining Inter Milan on Monday, Kenyan midfielder McDonald Mariga made a debut for the Italian champions on Wednesday night in their second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Fiorentina. Mariga whose planned switch to Manchester City in the English Premier League failed to materialise due to work permit issues, signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Serie A giants. Manchester City’s £7 million bid for the talented Harambee Stars midfielder’s signature collapsed after the star was denied a work permit due to Kenya’s low placing in the Fifa world rankings. Inter Milan coached by the flamboyant Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho dismissed Fiorentina 1-0 on Wednesday night to storm into the finals. Mariga came on as a second half substitute. |
