Tanzania league frontrunners Simba dropped their first two points of the season after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kagera Sugar on Wednesday. Simba looked like they were heading towards extending their winning record to fifteen games when Ugandan import Emmanuel Okwi headed home Ramadhan Chombo’s cross after 56 minutes, but Kagera leveled later on from a spot kick by Themi Felix. Simba controlled the proceeding early in the first half but it was Kagera who finished the half strongly putting the visitors on their toes for the final ten minutes.
The game had to stop for almost seven minutes in the second half when Kagera Sugar custodian Amani Simba sustained serious injury after colliding with Mussa Hassan ‘Mgosi’ when the two went for the ball. Their rivals Young Africans who are also the defending league champions picked an away 1-0 win over JKT Ruvu to stay 10 points behind Simba. |
