02-09-2010

The Senegalese State Radio and Television (RTS), the Football Federation of the country and the Senegalese Football league, have signed a deal to ensure the broadcast of the country’s local league. The convention signed on February 5, will see RTS broadcast a match of the local championship every week that is played in the capital Dakar.
According to the head of the Commercial Service of the Senegalese State Radio and Television, Serigne Mbaye Sarr, the decision is a step in the right direction. And to the president of the professional football league, Louis Lamotte, the deal attests to the fact that, « no effort in the sports domain can henceforth be undertaken without television ».
A number of countries in recent years have taken similar steps, with Burkina Faso being the latest. The various parties who signed the deal will make an appraisal at the end of the first year. The Senegalese Football league kicks off on February 20, 2010.
