CAF Executive Committee decisions: CAN in odd years from 2013
The Confederation of African Football Executive Committee chaired by its president, Issa Hayatou, met in Cairo on Saturday May 15, 2010 during which the following issues were discussed and decisions taken:
Orange CAN 2012: The progress report on the last CAF inspection visit to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in March 2010 was presented by the head of delegation, CAF is actively engaged with respective local organizing committees on monitoring the progress regularly. The next inspection visit is scheduled by the end of July or beginning of August.
CAN 2015 and 2017. The Executive Committee has confirmed the change the of year the Africa Cup of Nations from 2014 back to 2013 following the Caf President visit in Libya in March this year. The Libyan football association has accepted hosting the tournament in 2013 in order to allow CAF to organize the tournament in odd years. In the next coming weeks, the national association will be receiving bidding documents for both the 2015 and 2017 editions of the Africa cup of Nations. Libya has been granted also the right to host CHAN 2014.
Orange CAN 2010 TV coverage: CAF Marketing Committee presented a report highlighting the tremendous commercial success of African flagship event with more than 25 000 hours of cumulative broadcast, with an estimated number of viewers for the tournament reaching over 887 million people.
CAF Congress in 2011. The Executive Committee approved 23 February 2011 as the date for the CAF Congress in Khartoum (Sudan).
Futsal African Championship: The competition will take place from 15 to 27 December 2010 upon the request of the Football Association of Burkina Faso.
