The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Trophy Diaspora Tour officially kicked off on Wednesday, 03 December evening in Paris, as the CAF brought Africa’s most coveted piece of silverware  to the Yoyo venue for its Paris stop of its international tour.

Created to engage African communities living abroad, the initiative strengthens the connection between the diaspora and next year’s competition in Morocco.

Ivorian legend Yaya Touré who lifted the trophy in 2015 champion and four-time CAF African Player of the Year, headlined the evening.

“This Trophy belongs to the entire continent. Seeing it travel to the diaspora, here in Paris, is an immense pride. Africa deserves moments like this — united in culture and in football,” Touré said.

His presence set the tone for a night built around identity, pride, and connection.

CAF Director of Competitions Samson Adamu highlighted the objective behind the initiative.

“The Diaspora Tour is not a PR stunt. It is a gesture of unity. The diaspora plays a vital role in the energy of African football. This AFCON 2025 will also be theirs. And when AFCON is happening, even Paris vibrates.”

A discussion panel featuring Touré, Bruno Ecuele Manga (Gabon) and Moussa Niakhaté (Senegal) followed, offering personal reflections and stories that bridged generations of African football.

The musical performances were central to the evening, reinforcing the Diaspora Tour’s mission to blend football with culture.

Mohamed Ramadan was the first to take the stage, drawing huge cheers as he delivered a dynamic set.

“Africa is a family. This Tour brings us even closer,” he told the crowd.

He was followed by Congolese rap icon Youssoupha, who delivered a powerful performance.

Beyond the performances and speeches, the event stood out for its strong sense of togetherness.

Throughout the evening, the Trophy served as a focal point, drawing constant attention and symbolising the bond between the continent and its global diaspora.
