Senegal vs. Mozambique to close the curtain

After validating their tickets for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021, Senegal and Mozambique will face each other this Saturday in the final of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal 2021. The kick-off will be given at 17:30 GMT.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe who arrived early this morning in Senegal, will attend the match before proceeding to the presentation of trophies and awards to the winners.

89 goals have been scored since the group stage of the competition, a number that will likely be revised upwards after the matches on the last day (3rd place and final).

Senegal

In four editions of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal has reached the final three times (2016, 2018, 2021).

To reach the final of this edition, Senegal won against Uganda 5-1 and Tanzania 3-1 in a three-team Group A, after the late withdrawal of the DR Congo.

In front of their home crowd, the Téranga Lions validated their ticket to the World Cup in Russia by beating Morocco 3-2 in an epic semi-final duel.

11 goals have been scored by Senegal in these three matches. Achievements by Babacar Fall (4), Raoul Mendy (3), Ninou Diatta (2) and Mamadou Sylla (2).

Mozambique

For their first appearance in a final tournament of the Africa Cup of Nations, Mozambique will play the final, as they have also and landed their ticket to the World Cup.

The Mambas have been sensational since the start of the tournament. At each of their outings, they demonstrated talent and lucidity.

Wins against Egypt 7-5, Seychelles 7-3 and finally against Morocco 2-1 secured them first place in Group A. A brilliant run that redistributed the cards.

In the semifinals, the Mambas were pitted against the Uganda Sand Cranes and won 6-3.

The Mozambican attack records 22 goals in 4 matches. An offensive sector led by defender Nelson Manuel (10 goals) and striker Rachide Sefo (9 goals).

Only two other players in the squad also found their way to the net : Yuran Jose Malate (2 goals) and Fadil Ainadine (1 goal).

Besides, the third-place match will be between Morocco and Uganda this afternoon. Egypt finished in 5th place in the tournament after a 4-2 victory on Friday against Tanzania.
