Semifinals fixtures of COSAFA Qualifiers revealed

Zambia’s Green Buffaloes and Botswana’s Double Action Ladies have booked their places in COSAFA Qualifiers semifinals of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League 2021 and will play respectively Mamelodi Sundowns and Black Rhinos.

Zambia’s Green Buffaloes became the fourth side into the semifinals after they claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over TURA Magic of Namibia on Tuesday.

Buffaloes only needed a draw to advance in second place in Group B behind Black Rhinos Queens but earned a late win as Anita Mulenga netted with three minutes remaining in a game in which they largely dominated the play but had a few nervy moments from Magic attacks in the second half.

The Zambians are into the next stage with a victory and a defeat, while Magic head home having failed to find the back of the net in their two games.

Double Action Ladies from Botswana sealed second position in Group A to earn a place in the semifinals following an emphatic 6-0 victory over Lesotho Defence Force on Monday.

They join Mamelodi Sundowns in the Last 4, with the latter having already been assured of their spot before the 6-1 victory over Manzini Wanderers in a game that was played simultaneously.

It means Sundowns top the pool with a full haul of nine points, followed by Double Action on six, while LDF and Wanderers have a single point each from their draw on Saturday.

The semifinals will be played on Thursday, starting with Group B winners Black Rhinos Queens against the runners-up from Group A, Double Action of Botswana (kick-off is at 11h00 CAT).

The second semifinal sees Sundowns take on Green Buffaloes (14h00 CAT) in what should be another intriguing battle.
