Successful debut for Double Action, Sundowns and Black Rhinos

The opening games of the COSAFA qualifying tournament for the TotalEnergies CAF Women's Champions League 2021 kept all their promises, with the remarkable entry of Double Action Ladies (Botswana), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) and Black Rhinos Queens (Zimbabwe).

In Thursday's Group A opener between Double Action Ladies (Botswana) and Wanderers LFC (Eswatini), it was the Botswana side who outscored the Swazi 3-0 at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, South Africa. The goals were scored by Loane Moloi (26 ’), Lesego Duduetsang (54’) and Oteng Bonang (78 ’).

In the other opposition from the same group on Friday, Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) smashed Lesotho Defense Force 6-0.

The home team’s offensive festival kicked off as early as 15 minutes into the game with Andisiwe MGcoyi opening the deadlock. The score at half-time was 2-0 as Rhoda Mulandzi had also found the net in the 19th minute.

The second half was even more prolific. Goals from Melinda Kgadiete (59 ’), the two others from Andisiwe MGcoyi who completed her hat-trick, as well as the final blow from Boitumelo Joyce Rabale (90’) sealed the convincing victory for the South African club.

In the mean time, the group B meeting between Zimbabwe's Black Rhinos and Zambia's Green Buffaloes turned in favor of the former.

Marjory Nyaumwe (59 ’) and Christabel Katona (73’) scored the goals in the 2-0 victory for Black Rhinos Queens.
