2023 CAF Women’s Champions League Huracanes vs AS Mande | Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between Huracanes and AS Mande.

It will be AS Mande’s second clash against a team from Equatorial Guinea, in their first appearance at the finals they faced Malabo Kings in their final Group Stage.

In their final group game against Huracanes rivals Malabo Kings they played out a 1-1 draw. AS Mande took the lead in the second minute through Bassira Toure, Malabo Kings equalized in the 80th minute through Muriel Mendoua.

In games between WAFU representatives and UNNIFFAC representatives, teams from West and Central Africa at the finals. The WAFU teams are undefeated in these games (W2 D1).

In previous clashes between teams from West and Central Africa they crossed paths three times overall, twice in 2021 with Malabo Kings losing to Hasaacas Ladies and drawing with AS Mande. While in 2022 TP Mazembe of the DR Congo lost to Nigerian side Bayelsa Queens 2-0.

Defeated TP Mazembe of the DR Congo 3-2 and AS Epah- Ngamba of Congo 5-1 to progress to the CAF WCL for the first time.

Are Equatorial Guinea’s second representative at the finals, Malabo Kings were the first at the inaugural tournament in 2021 when they reached the Semi-finals finishing fourth.

Elena Obono was their top scorer in the qualifiers, which included her scoring a hattrick in a 5-1 win over AS Epah- Ngamba of Congo.

The only other team from Equatorial Guinea to compete at the finals Malabo Kings reached the Semi-finals in 2021, they lost their first game against Ghanaian side Hasaacas Ladies 3-1. They bounced back to win their second game 3-0 against Wadi Degla of Egypt and drew their final group game against AS Mande 1-1.

In the Semi-final a 0-0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns saw them lose on penalties, they also lost the third place play-off against AS FAR.

This game is the third between a team from Equatorial Guinea and a team from West Africa, Malabo Kings faced Hasaacas Ladies and AS Mande winning one game and drawing one.

Current Huracanes squad member Nuria Baita Masa featured for Malabo Kings at the inaugural finals in 2021, playing a total of five games she made three starts. She managed to play a total of 270 minutes.

Masa appeared for Malabo Kings during their 1-1 group stage draw against AS Mande in 2021, she appeared as a 47th minute substitute. She had two shots on target and created two chances in the game.

Winners of the WAFU Zone A Qualifiers.

Defeated determine girls of Liberia, and then drew with Mogbwemo Queens of Sierra Leone and AS Dakar of Senegal in the group stage. To finish top of the group and reach their second finals.

Were part of the first CAF WCL in 2021, will be looking to go beyond the group stages this time around.

Were drawn in Group A in 2021 with Hasaacas Ladies of Ghana, Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea and hosts Wadi Degla of Egypt in the group stages.

Awa Traore scored their first goal at the finals in their opening game in 2021 against Egyptian side Pyramids.

Nicknamed The Mandekas.

AS Mande will be featuring in their second finals, after a group stage exit in 2021.

Will become the fourth team along with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, AS FAR and Wadi Degla to feature in more than one edition of the CAF WCL. Sundowns and AS FAR will be appearing at their third finals while Wadi Degla have been to two.

AS Mande were the only team to fail to win a game at the 2021 Finals, they began with a 3-1 loss to hosts Wadi Degla of Egypt, they then suffered a 3-0 to Hasacaas Ladies of Ghana before drawing their final game 1-1 against Malabo Kings.

AS Mande are yet to keep a clean-sheet at the finals.

AS Mande have only ever gone in front once in three games at the finals which was in their 1-1 draw against Malabo Kings in their final group game in 2021.

They have 8 members in their current squad who competed in their first finals in 2021, they are Sadio Sow, Oumou Coulibaly, Fatomata Diarra, Aissata Keita, Oumou Traore, Rokia Coulibaly, Korotoumou Keita and Salimata Konte.

In the 2021 tournament current squad members Oumou Coulibaly, Fatomata Diarra and Oumou Traore started and finished all three of AS Mande’s games at the finals.

At the 2021 Finals AS Mande’s two goals were scored by Bassira Toure and Awa Toure, none of whom are in their current squad. 

Huracanes will become the fourth team that AS Mande will face at the finals after previous meetings against Wadi Degla, Hasaacas Ladies and Malabo Kings.
