CAF Women’s Champions League: ASEC hold JKT Queens to go top of Group B

In another exciting CAF Women's Champions League Group B encounter, ASEC Mimosas fought back to earn a crucial 1-1 draw against Tanzania’s JKT Queens on Tuesday at the Right To Dream Stadium in Cairo.

The Tanzanian side made a bright start and took the lead as early as the 8th minute through Ester Maseke, who finished off a well-worked move down the left flank. That early goal put ASEC under pressure for much of the game as JKT Queens looked to build on their advantage.

Despite a difficult start, the Ivorian champions refused to give up and gradually took control of possession.

Their persistence finally paid off in the 82nd minute when Erika Gnounoue struck the equaliser, securing a vital point for her side and taking ASEC to the top of Group B.

The group remains tightly contested: ASEC now lead with four points, followed by TP Mazembe on three, while JKT Queens stay in contention with two.

ASEC will face Gaborone United on Saturday, while JKT Queens will look to cause an upset against TP Mazembe in a decisive battle for qualification to the knockout stages.
