The Equatorial Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFUT) has announced a financial package aimed at helping out clubs from the men’s and women’s first division, second division and Futsal Championships from the current struggles occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
An amount of 50 million FCFA (approximately 85,000 USD) will be distributed to clubs to help them ease out the financial struggle they have gone through during this period.
The resolution was made public after a meeting chaired by FEGUIFUT T president Gustavo Ndong Edu Akumu, in the presence of officials of Equatoguinean Premier League and the Second Division, among others.
This amount will be an initial assistance to the club, pending the financial support from world governing body FIFA.
“This money will allow you to cover specific expenses to protect your players against the coronavirus pandemic in the country," said Ndong Edu, speaking to club representatives during the meeting.
At the same time, the meeting also explored the possibility of resumption of all the national football leagues in the country.
The Federation announced that it was still waiting on word from the Ministry of Health and the final decision will be taken basing on the recommendations given by the National Coronavirus Committee in Equatorial Guinea.
