Former CAF Executive Committee member Abu Shweisha passes on

Abo Shweisha

Former Libyan Football Federation (LFF) General Secretary Abdul Majid Abu Shweisha died aged 80 on Monday (27 July 2020) in Rome, Italy, after a long illness.

Abu Shweisha was one of the most prominent figures in Libyan football, and served as LFF General Secretary in the 1970s.

He was also a member of CAF Executive Committee, serving terms between 1976 and 1988. He played a great role to see Libya organizing the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations, which remains to date the only time that Libya hosted the continent’s showpiece event.
