Hosts AS Tempete Mocaf of Central African Republic managed a narrow home 1-0 win over Libyan visitors Al Nasr on Sunday evening at the 2019-20 Total CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg.
After a barren first half, Billy Nyetobouko scored what proved to be the game’s lone goal 8 minutes from time.
Despite having numerous chances, both sides couldn’t find the net to see Nyetobouko’s goal separating them
The return leg will be played in a fortnight in Egypt due to the current situation in Libya.
The goal scorer Nyetobouko told CAFOnline.com after the game “It was a tough game, but the most important for us is victory. Al Nasr is a good side and now we have to wait and see what happens in the return leg”.
Meanwhile Al Nasr coach Mohamed Al Kikli looked satisfied with his side’s performance. “We played a good game. Our preparations were not enough but yet we had a good game and created many chances. The lack of experience coasted us not scoring tonight. In the return leg we will be better as we know our opponent well now. I believe we can qualify to the next round”, he told CAFOnline.com.
