They are the team to beat at the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations. Les Fennecs of Djamel Belmadi started the competition as underdogs, but with every match they are turning into favorites.

Four victories and a draw (followed by win on penalties) in as many matches, this is the record of Algeria who came from a long way, having experienced several months of shortages and changes in the head of the technical staff (5 coaches in 3 years). Belmadi, former player of Manchester City and Olympique de Marseille has metamorphosed Les Fennecs both tactically and psychologically.

Since the beginning of the tournament, Algerians excelled in all compartments with very positive results (best attack with 10 goals scored and best defense for conceding only one goal).

This is the seventh time that Algeria are playing in the AFCON final four after 1980, 1982, 1984, 1988, 1990 (their only title) and 2010. A semifinal that will open the doors of the final to the Algerians, who are thirsty to hang a second star on their jersey.

"We have a team of warriors and we must seize our chance to win this tournament," Algeria’s captain Riyad Mahrez told Cafonline.com. "Before starting the tournament our goal was to reach the semi-finals, but now we want to win this AFCON title".

It should be noted that, as has been the case since the start of this 2019 Total AFCON, Les Fennecs will have the support of thousands. Several charter flights have been scheduled by the Algerian state for the transport of fans to Cairo next Sunday.
