Cape Verde grabbed the only Group F ticket available to next year’s Total Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2021, after their 1-0 victory over Mozambique on Tuesday at Estadio Nacional de Zimpeto.

Faisal Abdul Bangal’s lone goal in the 58th minute was decisive for the visiting Blue Sharks to get a vital away win that ensured their ticket to Cameroon.

Cape Verde finished in second place with 10 points, before Rwanda (6 points) and Mozambique (4). Cameroon remained first with 11 points.

At Japoma stadium in Douala, the Indomitable Lions failed to win at home, with a goalless draw against 10-man Rwanda.

Already qualified as hosts and group leaders, Cameroon wanted to consolidate their top position in group F, while opposition Rwanda needed a win to remain in contention depending on the result in Mozambique.

After a first half with rare chances, Rwanda goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera was sent off after an out-of-box foul on Cameroon’s incent Abubakar. But the hosts could make no use of their numerical advantage.
