Congolese players on fire against Zimbabwe

The Congolese woke up for their last Group A match and Zimbabwe paid the price for the Leopards' offensive fury, conceding a heavy loss (4-0). The DRC is improving its goal difference but does not know yet if it will be enough to reach the knockout stages of the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2019 for best third.

The Democratic Republic of Congo could not start the game better by opening the score in the 4th minute. On a free kick by Jacques Maghoma, Jonathan Bolingi with his head goes twice to open the scoring.

The first half takes place at a high pace and the two teams are creating several frank opportunities under the watchful eye of the Algerian referee, Mustapha Ghorbal, and in the presence of a Congolese public who came to set fire in the stadium of June 30th.

In the 34th minute, after several opportunities initiated by Khama Billiat and Ovidy Karuru for Zimbabwe, on a counter attack by Issama Mpeko, the Leopards striker Cedric Bakambu finds himself alone against the goalkeeper of the Warriors and manages to aggravate the mark. (2-0).

The second half started off with some offensive actions from both teams and we could see the instructions of the two coaches : Florent Ibengue and Sunday Chidzambga.

In the 63rd minute, Cedric Bakambu took advantage of a cons to sneak into the Zimbabwean defense before being mowed by goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze, who replaced Edmore Sibanga before the match for injury. Penalty converted by the same Bakambu who scored a brace in this match (3-0).

In the 78th minute, Britt Assombalonga dribbled the goalkeeper and corseted the bill for the Leopards who made the perfect match (4-0).

A full match for Florent Ibengue;s colts who will now have to wait for the other matches to see a qualification in the second round of the competition.
