Kyabou vs Obongo – A duel of talents

When Mali faces Congo in the quarterfinal of Total African Nations Championship (CHAN), Cameroon 2020 on Saturday (30 January 20210) at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde, eyes will be on two talented midfielders in either side.

Mali’s Moussa Kyabou and Congo’s Prince Obongo has been two of the players who impressed most in the ongoing CHAN. They played an important role of their respective sides deserved qualification to the knockout stages of the tournament.

Moussa Kyabou – Dreams start big

Kyabou represents the revival of Malian football. The 23 years old midfielder’s performance was eye-catching during the current CHAN, and he deserved the Man of The Match award against hosts Cameroon in Matchday 2. Playing in the ranks of USC Kita, Kyabou hopes the Eagles can do something special this time. "We are here to go as far as possible and why not win the trophy,” he told CAFOnline.com.

Mali’s coach Nouhoum Diané relies a lot on his defensive midfielder, who is a natural born leader for his team. His talent is undoubtedly noticed, and he dreams of the next step.

"Personally, I want to mark my name in the history of Malian football. It will also allow me to see further with opportunities abroad. My dream is to play in England,” he said.

Prince Obongo – Left footed magician

Obongo proved himself as one remains one of Congo’s coach Barthélemy Ngatsono’s key players. The attacking midfielder who plays for Diables Noirs made the difference in the two games he played so far in the tournament.

Also 23, Obongo said his team does not fear Mali’s Eagles. "We know they qualified in first place ahead of hosts Cameroon, we know they are favorites, but we are not afraid,” Obongo told CAFOnline.com.

With his talented left foot, he gained the nickname “Messi of the Congo” by the Red Devils supporters. Obongo wants this CHAN to be just a first step from where he can go far, both for Congo who are targeting a historic participation, and for himself as he is eyeing a giant dream abroad.
