Sylla: Twice “Man of the Match” motivates me for more

Guinea’s industrious forward Morlaye Sylla said winning ‘Man of the Match’ award twice in as many matches motivates him more to steer his team to success at the ongoing Total African Nations Championship (CHAN), Cameroon 2020.

Guinea will face Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their last Group D match on Wednesday, after collecting four points from their two matches, a 3-0 win against Namibia and a 1-1 draw with Zambia.

Sylla scored one of the goals in victory against Namibia and was voted ‘Man of the Match’ in both games.

“We have never won a major trophy as Guinea, but we believe this generation can do it for our people. These two awards gave me more energy to work harder for my country,” he said.

Guinea’s coach Mohamed Kanfory Bangoura made it clear Sylla is playing a very important role in the team because a lot revolves around him in attack.

“I am glad his hard work has been noticed with the two awards, and I hope we continue to play well and reach the later stages of the tournament,” added the experienced coach.

Guinea, who failed to make it out of the group stage at the 2018 CHAN in Morocco, needs just a draw against Tanzania on Wednesday to qualify for the quarterfinals.
