Following the 2020-21 Total CAF Champions League knockout stages draw, CAFOnline.com caught with some of the teams' coaches about how they see the draw.
Didier Gomes (Coach, Simba)
We are very excited. It’s a good draw and Kaizer Chiefs is a good team. We will play the first match away and we have to be ready. It’s going to be very tough at this level and we respect Kaizer Chiefs much. We have our ambitions and want to go far in the competition. We are ready to face Kaizer Chiefs, and if we qualify, we will be ready for either opponent. The quarterfinal will not be easy and afterwards we will think of the next step. I’m confident Simba can go very far this season.
Gavin Hunt (Coach, Kaizer Chiefs)
Any team we will play now will be tough. Simba had a very good group campaign where they defeated the title holders’ Al Ahly. We will concentrate on each game and take it from there. We also had a good run at the group stage and we will continue the good work.
Rulani Mokoena (Coach, Mamelodi Sundowns)
All of the teams in the last eight are very good. Al Ahly is no different, they are the defending champions, and this is a very competitive draw. We will play a good side with a very good coach that I myself respect so much because of the role he played in my coaching career. We are looking forward to the challenge. We have to remain focused in the quarterfinals at the moment and not to look beyond. We think of game by game. Our ultimate goal in every competition is to win the title. We know there will be pressure on both sides, and we’re looking forward to reaching the semifinals.
