Match Facts – Semifinals first leg
Before the second leg of the 2019-20 Total CAF Champions League semifinals takes place this weekend, here’s a look at some of the first leg match facts;
o Al Ahly ended Wydad Casablanca’s four-year unbeaten run at home in the CAF Champions League (22 games) with a 2-0 victory in the semifinal first leg.
o Since the start of the 2017 CAF Champions League campaign (apart from preliminary matches), Al Ahly’s Ali Maâloul has been directly involved in more goals than any other player (17 – 8 goals, 9 assists).
o Since losing their first CAF Champions League game of the group stage against Étoile du Sahel, Al Ahly have remained unbeaten in their following eight (W5 D3).
o Hamdi Fathi made seven tackles against Wydad Casablanca, the most any Al Ahly player has made in a single CAF Champions League game since Hisham Mohamed versus ES Sétif in October 2018 (7).
o Zamalek’s Achraf Bencharki has been directly involved in 12 goals in his last 14 CAF Champions League appearances (10 goals, 2 assists), including six this season (5 goals, 1 assist).
o Zamalek won their first CAF Champions League away game in four years (apart from the preliminaries) with a victory over Raja Casablanca.
o Zamalek have seen just two goals in their last three CAF Champions League away games, after seeing nine in the previous three.
o Zamalek had just 35.6% possession in their 1-0 win over Raja Casablanca, the third lowest possession figure for a side to win a game in the CAF Champions League this season.
