Following the 20202-21 Total CAF Confederation Cup knockout stages draw, CAFOnline.com caught with some of the teams' coaches about how they see the draw.
Dennis Lavagne (Coach, JS Kabylie)
We know our opponent well. All the teams in the quarterfinal are strong. The match will be played on the pitch. We will play to win against Sfaxien and reach the semifinals. There are no easy of difficult teams, all the teams that qualified are strong. Sfaxien is a team with great experience in this tournament and we respect them well. Our target is to go as far as possible in the competition. At the beginning our target was the group stage, then the quarterfinals and now we want to go the semifinal.
Cheikh Gueye (Coach, Jaraaf)
Coton Sport is a good team from a country that’s a great football nation and we respect them well. Cameroon is near to us and that’s a good point. We will prepare for the match in the best way. We qualified from a tough group that contained two Tunisian sides and a team from Burkina Faso. We had a very good group stage campaign, and our team gets better with every match. Now we are in the quarterfinals and we want to reach the semifinals. We take every match at time and our target now is to reach the semifinal.
Joseph Zinnbauer (Coach, Orlando Pirates)
We will face one of the biggest clubs in Africa, which is Raja. They are a big club with big supporters, and it’s tough to beat them at home. Last season they reached the CL semifinal and a year before they won the CC. They have lot of experience and some very good players. It’s a very big and difficult game for us, but in football everything is possible. We have to focus before the game and analyze our opponents. We are also a big team with big supporters, and we will do our best. Now we think about Raja first, and then we will think of the next step. We will play at home first then away and that’s not easy for us, but we have to focus on the home leg first. In this tournament there are many big teams and it’s always not easy but we are happy to play at this level, and we will fight till the end.
Souleymanou Aboubakar (Coach, Coton Sport)
The draw is good, and we respect all the teams. We don’t have a choice because at the quarterfinals all the opponents are strong. Our ambition this year is to go as far as possible for our club, and we will prepare very well for the coming quarterfinal games. Jaraaf is a very good team, and we know this is not going to be easy. But we will do our best to reach the semifinals. The tournament starts now.
