Alassane Ndour : The favorite is the one who wins

He is not the best known of the golden generation of Senegal's Teranga Lions. But Alassane Ndour is a voice that matters. The ex-player is still following his younger brothers on the national team closely and believes the potential is there to clinch the African title.

“We will see what Senegal will show in Cameroon. The players are confident. We will see the outcome but it will not be at all easy," concedes Ndour, very measured as to the chances of Senegal when speaking to CAFOnline.com.

The number one African team in FIFA rankings is one of the teams leading the predictions for the final coronation. In 2019 in Egypt, Sadio Mané and his playmates passed very close to lift the throphy, an objective non-achieved because of a morning goal of the Desert Foxes. Two years later, fans only see a trophy in Cameroon. But not necessarily Alassane Ndour. When asked whether Senegal is a big favorite, he cut short.

"I don't really believe in favorites. The favorite is the one who wins. The 24 teams are ready to defend their country so we will take stock at the end, ” he added.

But a certainty for the 2002 AFCON runner-up and 2002 FIFA World Cup quarter-finalist, the party will be beautiful in Cameroon.

Senegal will play in group B in Bafoussam alongside Zimbabwe, Guinea and Malawi.
