Desabre targeting TotalEnergies CAF AFCON final as DR Congo face ultimate test

DR Congo coach Sebastien Desabre says his side will "do everything" to reach the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations final when they face Cote d'Ivoire on Wednesday.

The Leopards take on the resurgent Ivorians at the imposing 60,000-capacity Stade Alassane Ouattara in Yamoussoukro.

Desabre believes his men can pull off another shock result after dumping out record seven-time winners Egypt.

"We approach this with calmness and patience. The boys have recovered well after beating Guinea," he said.

"Having an extra day of rest compared to our opponent could also be key."

Desabre acknowledged the strength in depth Cote d'Ivoire possess, even with several suspensions.

"They have a quality squad and even without four players, they have other strengths and a deep bench," he noted.

The French coach said his Congolese outfit would not be fazed by the intimidating atmosphere expected.

"We are competitors, we want to reach the final and will do everything to achieve that," Desabre stated bullishly.

After navigating their way past Guinee and then Egypt, DR Congo are now tantalisingly close to a first AFCON showpiece event since 1974.

But in their path stand an Cote d'Ivoire side brimming with flair and confidence after beating Senegal and Mali.

This semi-final promises to be an epic contest between two giants of the African game, each desperate for continental glory.

Desabre's belief in his Leopards is unshakeable, but he knows they face a severe test against the Elephants.

With both sides chasing a place in the final, this last four clash could come down to which team handles the immense pressure better.

DR Congo's remarkable run has captured the imagination, but now they must summon every ounce of their courage and quality.
