Ghana parts ways with its coach after TotalEnergies CAF AFCON exit

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) officially announced the termination of Black Stars Coach, Chris Hughton following their team’s disappointing group stage exit in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023.
The Black Stars finished third in Group F after their shock 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde was followed by a 2-2 draw with Egypt, before surrendering a comfortable lead to draw 2-2 with Mozambique in their last group match.
The GFA Executive Committee also took the decision to dissolve the entire technical staff of the Black Stars.
Furthermore, the GFA also announced that it would develop a road map that will guide the FA in appointing the next coach of the Black Stars.
“We will provide in the coming days a road map on the future direction of the Black Stars", read the statement.
This is the second consecutive time that Ghana are eliminated in the group stage of the competition following their 2021 group stage exit in Cameroon.
