Rwanda coach Hey unveil squad for Central African clash

Published:

Rwanda coach Antoine Hey has named a 19-man squad for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic on Sunday away in Bangui.

As part of the preparations for the Group H Day One clash, Amavubi beat Morocco’s local national team 3-0 last Sunday, after earlier positing a 2-0 win against the same team at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali 48-hours earlier.

The two matches which climaxed the 2017 Genocide Memorial Tournament was held in honour of footballers, coaches, fans, administrators and other sportsmen and women who lost their lives during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.

Hey said the two matches have given him a “clear picture” of his squad for next week’s 2019 AFCON qualifier.

“We have got the real picture for the team we will use for the Central African Republic game. We have seen how we want to use the players we have. We are going to assess them further in the next few days,” Hey said.

The German, who took charge of the Amavubi last May, added that he was impressed with the overall performance of the players and is looking forward to a positive result against Central Africa Republic.

Meanwhile, Cote d’Ivoire will host Guinea in the other Group H clash on Saturday in Bouake.
