Pre-match quotes: Zambia vs Cote d’Ivoire

Published:

Wedson Nyirenda (Head Coach, Zambia)

It has been so far so good and the team is looking good. We have a Plan B to change things. It won’t be an easy game against Cote d’Ivoire. They are a team that is wounded, and will need to improve their game.

We have to fight complacency against underrating a team that lost the opening match. Cote d’Ivoire are motivated by the fact they playing against team that tops the table and beat Uganda emphatically.

Ziyo Tembo (Captain, Zambia)

Everything is going on as planned. The team spirit is high and everyone is looking forward to the game against Cote d’Ivoire. We have to go into game with right attitude. The past is a good place to visit but not to stay there, therefore our focus is on the Cote d’Ivoire game..

Ibrahim Kamara (Head Coach, Cote d’Ivoire)

We have prepared well and know what to expect. This match will be challenging and we have to get a positive result. We really need the result tomorrow, one that we can be proud.

For most players, it was their first time at such a competition and were nervous during the first game.

Four of our key players are battling injuries – Pacome Zouzoua, Raoul Konan, Inza Diabate and Wonlo Coulibaly. However, their absence will have no effect on our motivation to go for a win against Zambia. We will fight for the points we need.

It is a very tough group and I have a feeling the eventual winner of the tournament may come from here (Group B).

Arnaud Akassou (Defender, Cote d’Ivoire)

The defeat to Namibia has played an important role in our preparations for the game against Zambia. We know what to expect and we are extremely motivated to go for victory.
