Girls U-15 National Team Coaches speak ahead of Opening Day
The CAF African Schools Football Championship officially gets underway on Wednesday, 23 April with a total of eight (8) national teams in both the Boys and Girls U-15 age categories taking each other on for continental honours.
Ahead of the much-anticipated kick-off, all teams attended a press conference to preview their chances in the four-day competition.
The CAF African Schools Football Championship Ghana 2025 will take place at the University of Ghana between 23 – 26 April, with matches broadcast live on CAF’s Official YouTube channel, CAF TV.
This is what the Girls national team coaches had to say ahead of the opening matches:
Kintu Mwera – Uganda Coach
“We know what is at stake at this stage of the competition. We are playing against zonal champions who come with the same goal that we have of representing out nation. It will be a tough competition but we are ready to represent our nation”
Bridget Chirwa – Malawi Coach
“For us to get here is a great achievement but the work has only begun. We need to go out there and truly represent our nation and region. This is a tournament that young players all want to play in, and we need to show that we deserve to be here”
Ntombifuthi Khumalo – South Africa Coach (Defending Champions)
First of all, we must thank CAF for organising such a great tournament that caters equally for young girls. Women’s football has a bright future in Africa. Regarding the tournament, we head into it knowing that we have a title to defend, and we believe we can do just that but it will not be easy knowing that we are the team to beat”
Nadia Jilaidi – Morocco Coach
“Morocco has set up a number of academies that have produced good quality young women footballers. We are working hard to ensure that we represent our country well and this tournament is a great platform for us to showcase what Morocco has to offer when it comes to youth and women’s football”
Amadou Jatta - The Gambia
“We certainly have the belief that we will do well. We are not taking anything for granted because these are the best teams that we will be facing. We have a duty to represent out people and country well and this tournament gives us that opportunity against the best teams on the continent”
Danha Severin Rhino - Benin Coach
“There is a great desire for us to do well in this competition. The team is working hard and is here to compete and do our nation proud”
Joyce Boatey Agyei - Ghana Coach
“There is no pressure. We must understand that football at this level is about affording talent an opportunity to play and express themselves. Equally so, we know the importance of doing well and we will not take that for granted in anyway. The team know s that they have to enjoy themselves but bear in mind that they are representing a football loving nation like Ghana”
