Revived Young Africans eager for Al Ahly response

Young Africans coach Miguel Gamondi says his Tanzanian side have overcome major disruption ahead of facing African champions Al Ahly in Saturday's pivotal TotalEnergies Champions League encounter.

Gamondi's men slumped to a 3-0 loss away at Group D leaders Belouizdad previously following a chaotic build-up.

Several players lacked adequate recuperation from international duty before travelling to meet the Algerians.

However, Gamondi now declares Young Africans ready to tackle mighty Ahly despite acknowledging the sizeable threat they pose in Dar es Salaam.

"We're set to face a strong and big opponent in Al Ahly. We are ready for this difficult game," stated the Argentine tactician.

Gamondi felt the insufficient recovery time fatally undermined Young Africans last time out as they conceded three second-half goals to suffer defeat.

"We lost to Belouizdad because of stress," he reflected. "But we've overcome our biggest issue with players now having enough rest."

Currently bottom ahead of the visit of two-time reigning champions Ahly, Young Africans' prospects already risk being jeopardised.

So galvanising a hurting squad to rebound against celebrated opposition represents Gamondi's most pressing objective.

If Young Africans harbour hopes of progressing from this taxing group, the time has arrived to showcase their resilience and quality.

Gamondi cannot afford any repeat of previous chaotic preparations with so much riding on Saturday's Ahly showdown.
