The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League concluded its round of Match Day 6 fixtures, which marked the end of the grueling group stages for the 16 clubs, as the competition shifts gears and enters into the nail-biting knockout stages.
Following the conclusion of the group stages, this is what the coaches had to say post their final matches on Saturday, 02 March.
Pyramids FC vs Nouadhibou
Krumoslav Jurcic – Pyramids FC
We scored two goals and conceded two. We created many chances and played very nice football but with more training, I know we will be better in the future.
Pyramids is now in the second position and I hope we can still continue so we can participate again in the CAF Champions League next year. We will continue working hard because I believe in hard work.
Next for us, we have a national league match in three days so we need to go for a fast recuperation and fast recovery.
Aritz Lopes FC Nouadhibou Coach
We did well and achieved what we wanted. I am happy with my players and their performance. We had aimed for a win but we got a draw, which was also a good result for us. We were close to the win but Pyramids equaliser took us to a draw.
We are now looking forward to continue in our domestic competitions, the President Cup and the domestic league which we'll need to secure the top positions which would enable us to make a second appearance at the CAF Champions League next season.
Mamelodi Sundowns vs TP Mazembe
Lamine Ndiaye – TP Mazembe Coach
We didn’t play our game at all. We were dominated and I think the players showed too much respect. We could have scored but we were not too good in being aggressive and playing our game
Rulani Mokwena – Mamelodi Sundowns coach
Congratulations to the club. I think we were in a difficult group but we have done exceptionally well to finish top of a very difficutl group. We bounced back from the result against Pyramids and result away to TP Mazembe. We showed good mentality to bounce back and congratulations to the team and the club as a whole for the achievement
