Central African Republic -Burkina Faso: Only victory at stake

After seeing all four teams gathering a lone point in the opening matchday, Group B enters its Matchday 2 with two intriguing matches waiting.

Debutants Central African Republic face Burkina Faso, the only team in the group with previous U-20 AFCON experience, appearing in the finals for the fourth time.

“It’s time to let go and have our first win”, Burkina Faso coach Oscar Barro clarified. “Our target is to go as far as possible, and we have to start from now.”

Young Burkina Faso striker Fiacre Kouamé, who recently signed a contract with French side AC Ajaccio, will be the man to look at when the young Stallions enter their second match in Nouakchott.

Meanwhile, Central African Republic had a good first outing and could have grabbed maximum points against fellow debutants Namibia, but for a late goal that costed them a draw.

This is the first time for a team from Central African Republic to appear in a continental competition at any level, and a win will see them closer to a historic place in the quarterfinals.
