Tanzania v Morocco – Securing qualification or revival of hopes

Morocco will be seeking another victory when they face debutants Tanzania in their last group match in Nouakchott on Monday.

The young Atlas Lions lie second in Group C on four points on goal difference from leaders Ghana, as the mini-league stage of the ongoing Total U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Mauritania 2021 reaches its last day.

Zakaria Abboub and his charges will be going all out to collect the points that will secure their place in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Tanzania who came from behind to hold Gambia to a 1-1 draw in matchday 2 revived their qualification hopes, but they need maximum points against Morocco if they are to reach the next round.

Tanzania coach Jamhuri Mussa Kihwelo thinks his troops can do it. “against Gambia we were the better side, and they were lucky to get a point. Now we will play to win against Morocco,” he said.

Ghana takes on Gambia in a simultaneous kickoff at Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou. Top two teams from each group besides the best two ranked third-place teams reach the quarterfinals.
