TotalEnergies AFCON U-20: ‘I’ve never experienced anything like this’ - Mara

South Sudan winger Paul Mara had the best moment of his life when he won and converted a penalty against the Central African Republic (CAR) to secure his country a historic TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations
The Rainbow FC winger was named TotalEnergies Man of the Match following their victory in Group B match played in the Egyptian city Ismailia on Thursday.
He scored his second goal of the tournament following his consolation effort in their 2-1 defeat to Congo in the opening match of the group at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia.
"It's amazing I have never experienced anything like this before in my life," Jawa said. "I just want to say congratulations to myself and I have enjoyed it a lot tonight."
"It was a great match and I thank God for giving me strength and I did my best. I worked hard in training, that's why I won the Man of the Match."
Mara will have the honour of scoring the Bright Stars first ever goal at the tournament and the first to score a winning goal for the debutants.
"We worked really hard and as players we did what the coach told us to do. That's for us to enjoy playing great football," Mara said with a beaming smile on his face.
Peter James and his Bright Stars will play their neighbors Uganda in the last match of the group on Sunday at the Suez Canal Stadium.
"We're going back to the training ground to prepare for Uganda and we can do our best. Uganda has great players but we want to do our best against them."
