USPA seal Senegal women's double

Union Sportive des Parcelles Assainies (USPA) have completed the Senegal women's double after winning the league title on Wednesday night.

Winner of the Senegal women's FA Cup at the expense of Dakar Sacré Cœur (2-0), last Sunday USPA achieved the double after hammering Kaolack FC.

In the final, captain Hapsatou Malado Diallo's team-mates dominated Kaolack by defeating them 4-0.

The USPA dominated the Kaolackoises from the start of the game and opened the score through Meta Kande's header from the free kick by captain Mbayang Sow.

In the second-half, USPA extended their lead with the goals of Hapsatou Malado Diallo (54'), Pascaline Bassène (68') and Haby Baldé (70').

At the end of the match, Serena Lena Gomis, a member of the USPA technical staff, expressed her joy at seeing her team, which was playing its first season in the top-flight achieve the double.

"It's a feeling of satisfaction that drives us, our goal was to finish as champions to go play the qualifying tournament for the African Champions League," said the technician, adding that the goal is to become the first Senegalese team to play in the CAF Women's Champions League.

The president of the club, Moussa Sy asked for more support for women's football claiming it has an interesting potential.

"It is time to discriminate positively in favor of women's football," said the former mayor of Parcelles Assainies.

"We recognize the superiority of the opponent," the coach of Kaolak FC Ismaila Fall added.
