CAF Zonal Union Research Coordinators to work closely with Member Associations as CAF Research Hub expands

Published:

The CAF Research Hub, launched in December 2023, is a research initiative uniquely designed to develop and set scientific perimeters for CAF and its 54 Member Associations to further develop football in Africa using methods that are data-driven and evidence-based.

CAF has appointed Research Coordinators across its six Zonal Unions. These coordinators will work closely with their respective Zonal Unions to scientifically gather data and conduct studies on various matters relating to football development across Africa.

CAF Director of Member Associations Sarah Mukuna hailed the step as essential for African football and emphasised that African football development solutions must be in line with research conducted in Africa.

“This marks a significant milestone for the growth of football in Africa. The use of science, data and technology has proven to be key in the ever-evolving world of sport and it is therefore equally important that CAF develops and leads such initiatives for the benefit of African football”, said Mukuna.

“We have successfully conducted our first research study on the Impact of the African Schools Football Championship and are now conducting the second study focusing on nutrition and safeguarding. After completing the fieldwork for this study, we will host dissemination workshops to engage with various stakeholders. These workshops will provide an opportunity to thoroughly examine the key findings and results of this research initiative, with a particular focus on strategy and the anticipated impact.’’ She added.
